It’s basically exactly like ds9 if the ds9 writers all stopped giving a shit. It gets CRAZY, and the aliens actually look like aliens they aren’t all sexified like on star trek like even the sexy aliens look pretty weird lmao except for the ones that look like humans(but there’s a good reason for that you find out later no spoilers) and when I say it’s like ds9 I mean there are characters that are wonderful and there’s lots of character development so I don’t want to cheapen them by saying it’s a copy of ds9 cause that’s not really fair but that being said there’s a character who is basically kira, a character who’s basically worf, and a character who’s basically quark 😂 and it has the most blessed het ship I’ve ever seen it’s like the only good het ship and I will cry about it for eternity, and imo most scifi(looking at you star trek) have characters who always do the right thing lmao, well this is NOT LIKE THAT, all the characters kinda don’t like each other at first and they are all escaped prisoners and only one person has actual space military training, everyone else is just winging it lmao, basically they are all criminals and it gets really dark and there a lot of feels but there’s also like a fucking looney toons episode I wish I was joking lmao so there’s enough silliness to even out the sad ANDDD there’s 6 bad ass female main characters through out the series and they are all my wife(unfortunately not all at once the other ones come later) there’s a lot of hilarious star trek references cause the main character is a trekkie #blessed and all the villains have good reasons so at first your like fuck that guy and then you learn other stuff so it actually gives you some moral dilemmas, and the main villain literally wears an all black leather s&m get up 😂 basically it’s the best show ever and I like it just as much as ds9 and for the same reasons and it’s like ds9 on crack
